Terms of Service

Effective: February 25, 2026 · Last updated: February 25, 2026

The short version

Texrr is a paid service ($4.99/year or $29.99 lifetime). You are responsible for your own data. We cannot recover lost data. Do not use the service for illegal activity. We can terminate accounts that violate these terms.

1. Agreement

By creating a Texrr account or using the Texrr application, you agree to these Terms of Service. Texrr is operated by 132 Engineering ("we", "us", "our"). If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the service.

2. Service description

Texrr is a device-to-device encrypted messaging application. Messages are encrypted on your device using AES-256 encryption and transmitted directly to recipients via WebRTC peer-to-peer connections. Each message is an individual encrypted payload — Texrr does not maintain persistent conversation threads.

You may send messages to one or multiple recipients. Multi-recipient messages are individually encrypted and delivered via separate peer-to-peer connections.

There is no user search, user directory, or contact discovery. To communicate with another person, you must exchange QR codes directly — either in person or by sharing the code through a channel you control. No one can message you unless you have shared your QR code with them.

Texrr provides cryptographic hash chain verification and Merkle proof generation to ensure message integrity. These processes run entirely on your device.

3. Account and eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create a Texrr account. We do not permit use by anyone under 18. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and device.

You must provide a valid email address and choose a username. You may not impersonate others, use offensive usernames, or create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions.

4. Pricing and payment

Texrr is a paid service with two pricing options:

$4.99 / year
Auto-renewing annual subscription
$29.99 lifetime
One-time purchase, permanent access

All payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). Texrr does not handle payment information directly. Pricing may vary by region due to store currency conversion.

Annual subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings.

Refunds are subject to Apple's or Google's refund policies. Texrr does not process refunds directly.

5. Your data and responsibility

Texrr is designed so that your messages, encryption keys, hash chains, and all message-related data remain exclusively on your device. We do not store, access, or have the ability to retrieve this data.

You are solely responsible for backing up your data. Texrr provides a vault export feature for encrypted backups. You choose where to store your backup. We never hold a copy.

There is no data recovery. If you lose your device, uninstall the app, or lose access to your vault without a backup, your messages and keys are permanently lost. This is a core security feature, not a limitation.

We will never contact you claiming we can recover your data. Anyone who does is not representing Texrr.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Texrr to:

Transmit content that violates any applicable law or regulation
Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
Distribute malware or attempt to compromise other users' devices
Impersonate another person or entity
Interfere with or disrupt the service, including signaling infrastructure
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the application binaries
Exploit, abuse, or distribute child sexual abuse material (CSAM)

Because messages are encrypted and transmitted device-to-device, we cannot monitor message content. Enforcement of acceptable use relies on user reporting and account-level action.

7. Blocking and reporting

You may block any user at any time from within the app. Blocked users cannot send messages to you. You may report users for violations of these terms. Reports are reviewed and may result in account suspension or termination. Reports should be sent to texrr@132eng.com.

8. Verification and integrity

Texrr's hash chain verification system runs every 50 messages to detect tampering. If verification fails, the affected message thread is flagged in your inbox. This indicates a potential integrity issue — such as a compromised account, hash mismatch, or altered data.

Verification is informational. You decide whether to continue communicating with a flagged contact or block them.

9. Open technology

Texrr uses five independently auditable Go binaries that run on your device. These binaries are stateless and deterministic. The encryption library (@shanescalder/aes256-encryption-layerone) and Merkle proof library (@shanescalder/merkleproof) are published npm packages.

10. Service availability

We aim to maintain reliable signaling and presence infrastructure. However, because messaging is peer-to-peer, message delivery depends on both sender and recipient being online (or coming online for queued messages).

We do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, network conditions, and NAT traversal limitations may affect connectivity.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from within the app. This permanently removes your email, username, and public key from our server. Local data on your device is not affected by server-side deletion.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, are reported for abuse, or are used in connection with illegal activity. We will attempt to notify you via email before termination where possible.

12. Limitation of liability

Texrr is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We are not responsible for data loss resulting from device loss, failure to back up, or any other cause. The no-recovery design is a deliberate security feature that you accept by using the service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, 132 Engineering shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Texrr.

13. Law enforcement

If we receive a valid legal request, we can only provide the data we hold: email, username, and public key. We cannot provide message content, encryption keys, hash chains, or any data that exists exclusively on your device. We will notify you of legal requests unless prohibited by law.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of Texrr after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which 132 Engineering is registered. Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration or in the courts of that jurisdiction.
